BRIGHTLINE CELEBRATES THE BRIGHTEST MOMENTS OF 2024
MIAMI (Dec. 30, 2024) – Brightline celebrated many achievements in 2024, connecting riders across the state of Florida with modern passenger rail. The intercity train system celebrated one full year of operations connecting Orlando and South Florida, taking millions of cars off the road. Brightline broke ground on Brightline West, which will be America’s first true high-speed rail, connecting Las Vegas and Southern California. In the new year, Brightline will continue to connect communities and welcome guests with a hospitality-centric experience at a comparable price to driving or flying.
By the Numbers
In 2024, Brightline welcomed 40 percent more guests than the previous year, traveling over five million miles, which is equal to 200 trips around the world. Connecting by Brightline also reduced CO2 emissions by nearly 100k tonnes, equal to planting three million trees. To meet growing demand, Brightline is also expanding its fleet and has already received the first two sets of what will be 30 new coaches over the next year for added capacity.
Over the past year, Brightline hosted key U.S. leaders, including USDOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Nevada Governor Ray Lombardo, underscoring its national significance and impact on infrastructure investment in America.
Awards and Accolades
Brightline earned multiple awards and recognition in 2024 including TIME’s “100 Most Influential Companies in the World” and was named one of the “50 Most Innovative Companies” by Fast Company, with a special acknowledgment as the No.1 Company in Social Good. Brightline was also recognized as Engineering News-Record’s “Southeast Project of Year,” Bond Buyer’s “Deal of the Year,” “World’s Best Rail Operator Website” at the World Travel Tech Awards and named to Conde Nast Traveler’s “Bright Ideas in Travel." Brightline in the Community
The Rail Safety Pledge has been an important piece of Brightline’s safety efforts since operations began. This year, more than 45,000 pledges were received. Sustainability is also central to Brightline’s community efforts, with the first Everglades Foundation partnership launched to celebrate a joint commitment to restore and protect one of Florida’s most vital natural resources. As connecting communities is a pillar, Brightline hosted nearly 400 Special Olympics athletes, coaches and volunteers onboard from South Florida to Orlando for competitions.
